Have you had her to a vet to get checked out? Could very well be a health problem.

dobermans are quite prone to urinary problems. Mine is the same age and she leaks fairly often. It was caused by a weakening of the bladder muscles due to an infection. The weakening is permanent in her case. If the urine is very strong smelling then it could be kidney problems but its probably just an infection. I would take her to a vet straight away before it becomes a permanent problem. If its happening in her sleep it could just be weak muscles.

Is she urinating inside only at night? If so, she may be getting up in the middle of the night with a full bladder and can't get outside. Make sure she has ample opportunities to empty her bladder throughout the day, and restrict her water intake in the evening.
It's possible she may also have a bladder or urinary tract infection that needs looking into. If the urine is dark yellow, cloudy, or seems to have blood in it, you need to get her to a vet pronto.
A regular check-up at the vet's office never hurts.

I have had 5 Dobe females and 3 of the 5 have suffered from urinary incontinence. While there are several causes for incontinence, the most common one veterinarians see is in spayed Dobe females. Typically, leaking will occur while sleeping or relaxed.
It is important that a complete workup of the urinary tract be performed prior to beginning any therapy for incontinence. But it is treatable. All my affected females have been on a med called Diethylstilboestrol or DES -- 1mg/day every 3-5 days. I know of others who are treated through the use of Phenylpropanolamine HCl.

Yes, somebody would probably know what has prompted it.
Those someones would probably be a vet and a dog trainer. Talk to the vet first and if it's not a medical issue, talk to a dog trainer to see if you can figure it out.

Larger breeds are more prone to urinary incontinence. If it's not that, she may have a bladder infection.
