My geography teacher always has the curaints closed in the classroom and she has them pinned together so they can't be opened. Even the other teachers that go in after her for the next period or whatever, have to keep them closed. She is an older teacher, and she's from India. She warned us at the start of the year, to NEVER touch the curtains or we will regret it. Other teachers tell us that kids who have touched her curtains in the past have been suspended.
But what is the big deal? She's not some depressed person who wants no sunlight or anything, she's actually very funny at times, but why would she need them closed? Some kids say skin cancer, and others say that if a sun ray touches her, she will die.

Religous? I guess it could be that, but it's a Catholic school and I've never heard of doing that in a Catholic school and she's a Catholic. Also, there IS some reason, because other teachers have said so but they never say what it is.

Also, I can't ask her. She gets pissed when kids do. Some kids ask all the time to get her pissed and they all laugh about it. But again, there is a reason because other teachers have sorta said so when we ask.

Perhaps she is just a person who likes the curtains closed and while she's in there, it's HER classroom and she's in charge. Also maybe she doesn't want the students looking off outside and daydreaming or being distracted while she's teaching? Dunno for sure though.

More than likely, the light bothers her eyes and gives her headaches (I know about that). Also, buy keeping the curtains closed, glare is reduced and attention is not out of the classroom. If you are in an area that has nice weather year round, you will be looking outside wishing you were outside rather than in the classroom.

Some people are allergic to sunlight. Others have very sensitive eyes that get irritated when exposed to direct sunlight. Some people are drunks and don't like bright lights when they are hung over. And some people don't want their students peering out the window as they are being taught. Take your pick

Could be to keep things outside from interfering with the learning of students.
Another thing, she may have had cataract surgery and has artificial lens. If so, the sun is terrible to the people with that type surgery. It appears as bright, bright, bright. How old is she? around the 50s?
You know something......why not ask her?? Good luck. Pops

it could be that students were distracted by looking out of the window and this is her solution. it could be that there is something dangerous (like broken glass) that she is keeping the students away from in this manner. being a teacher those are my best guesses is that it somehow involves protecting the students or the classroom situation.

There is probably nothing wrong with your teacher. She just wants her students to pay attention to her and not get distracted looking out the window.
Has anyone just ask her?
