This is when you get tonsillitis .

It used to be considered, a good thing to have your tonsils removed , this surgery is not considered necessary these days

tonsils stay with you for life ,unless removed surgically

I had large tonsils all my life, but saw a new doctor today and he asked if I'd had my tonsils removed or if I just have tiny tonsils... got my wife to check and sure enough it looks like they are gone.
