All of the major brands have their fans, and I have no doubt that they are all good cameras. The only camera available at the moment that I would stay away from is the Fuji S9500. I bought one and the photos are just not sharp and clear.

Take your time looking, they are getting better and cheaper as time goes by.

Optical zoom is the most important thing, get the most you can for your money.

Digital zoom is a complete waste of time, do not consider this as a factor when buying a camera. Once you have bought a camera, turn digital zoom off.

Get the most megapixels you can for your money.

As a very rough rule of thumb when comparing your final choices in camera, take the number of megapixels and multiply that by the amount of optical zoom. Buy the camera with the highest number.

Try to avoid a camera that uses two 'AA' batteries (except perhaps the Kodaks that can use the CR3 Lithium ion Battery Pack). Get a camera that either uses four, or one with its own dedicated Lithium Ion battery pack. (If you want to keep it for a long time, check the price and availability of replacement batteries. perhaps ebay?)

At this point, I would recommend a base of 5 megapixel camera. Even then there are 7MP cameras coming out.

The higher pixel cameras are really desireable only if you do a lot of photo printing. At 5MP it is fine for 4x5 or 5x7. If you do a lot of 8x10's then higher resolution may help.

If your pictures are for the web, any lower end cam less than 5MP will do because you wont be sending that big of a picture on the web.

I am a Canon fan and those point and shoot (POS) cams are the best . My wife likes the Digital Elph line. She has the SD20 but now theres the SD40. For myself I like the SD900.

I love my Canon. I would NOT recommend a Polaroid brand, and I really don't like the colors in the picture that my mom's Kodak takes. They weren't true at all, and she's the second person I know with a Kodak and that problem. Oh, one more thing: my neighbor has a very expensive Sony camera, and it's amazing. It takes great pictures and has all kinds of features I wish mine had.

what variety of Canon movie digital camera do you have? no rely if it particularly is an EOS version, then you definitely would be properly recommended to get a Canon DSLR for the reason which you have already got lenses so which you are able to use. the recent "prosumer" version cameras (like the 40D and 50D) furnish a large variety of "bang for the greenback" and are around $1500. a solid Canon flash will set you decrease back yet another $3 hundred-4 hundred. in case you are able to no longer cope with to pay for that plenty, the Canon digital insurrection sequence cameras are very solid for around $4 hundred-$900 reckoning on the variety you decide on for. solid luck to you! chuffed shooting!

I have a Kodak and love it. The program is super easy to use and I have no trouble using it. Of course what you want to spend will determine how good of a camera you get.

Please post a new question. Tell us how much you want to spend, what you plan to use the camera for most of the time, and what your prior experience is with photography. With this information, we will be much more helpful to you.
