repoed our car. I got most of the stuff out but was planning on getting it back so the repo man said I could leave the rest in there. Well they took my stuff out and now they say that can't find it. We have had the car back for a couple of mos. now. What can I do?

Nothing. The people at the towing company stole everything. I had my car towed recently and they stole my CD player. When I confronted them they said that some one jumped the fence and stole it. Call the cops to make a report then call the Better Business Bureau. Unfortunately your stuff is gone.

The only option is hope they find the items (which probably won't happen) or pursue it in small claims court.
If you feel its worth the trouble to take the company to court then go for it. Just be ready to be detailed on what was in the car and approximate values and age of each item....and don't expect to walk away with a huge sum though. It'll be a He Said - She Said battle, and the company might claim they aren't liable ....
in many instances its more trouble than what its worth.
Tell your hubby to get you new items since "he" missed the payments

the bad news - it's gone
if there is money owed to the finance company - the car and it's contents are theirs to liquefy the loan
it may have just been trashed to clean the car
so sorry (our state you miss one - and it's a goner)

Most you can do is file a small claims suite. Its a losing battle, though... Just let it go I say.
