The website below claims there are 7,299 languages. I don't think there is anybody who is even close to speaking them all. Also I don't know if that includes dialects which can be so pronounced that speakers of different dialects don't understand each other.
I doubt if there is a single person who spoke more than 20 languages. One person who could speak quite a lot of languages was the swedish explorer Sven Hedin. Besides Swedish he spoke fluent German, English, French, Turkish, Persian, Russian, Mongolian, and Kirghiz and probably a couple more as well, maybe not fluent. Alexander Csoma de Körös was fluent in 16 or 17 languages.
I found a good way to increase vocabulary is reading books in the language one wants to learn. Also listening to books on tape, so you know how the words are pronounced. You should find plenty of both in your local library for Spanish.
You could also look if you have some native spanish speakers for friends or you could try to find somebody like that you could talk to in Spanish. Or at least you could find a pen friend to write to in Spanish. You could hang out in the spanish language section of yahoo answers and try to look for information in spanish. In addition there are spanish television programs, you should find spanish radio either on AM or on the web. Plenty of opportunities...

If you really want to learn Spanish, go to a Spanish speaking community for a month or so. Hearing Spanish all day everyday will really help you learn. If you can't do that, try attending Spanish classes outside of school or finding a tutor. If you can't do that either, buy books, listening programs, or computer programs.

The mother of one of my friends is an ESL (English as a Second Language) and speaks fluently 16 languages, plus all of the dialects of Hindi (24).
Right now she is learning Mandarin Chinese for fun.

The best way to learn any language is to speak it with natives.

La mejor manera de aprender es siendo autodidacta, es decir, aprender de libros, revistas, radio, programas de televisión, etc. Ve mas allá de tus clases y no te conformes con lo que te enseñan. Busca amigos con los que puedas platicar y te puedan enseñar nuevas cosas o despejar tus dudas.
Saludos,
