Christians are very ignorant of other faiths. I suppose because they're been raised to think that theirs is the only true faith and that everyone else needs to be converted to Christianity.
It's getting better though.

I'd like to choose door number 2, Bob.
Now, let me preface with a disclaimer, not all Christians are ignorant. There are many many Christians who have studied other religions and actually respect people's right to choose their own faith. To those who fall under that category: Thank you and god bless.
However, the majority of Christians have earned the bad rap for all of the rest of them. They bomb abortion clinics. They harrass you about being saved. EVERY ANSWER TO EVERY QUESTION IS "BECAUSE IT'S THE WILL OF GOD" OR "BECAUSE THE BIBLE SAYS SO" They have no physical evidence, no theories, no thought outside the bible box. It's either the Bible's way or the wrong way.
Not that I have any personal feelings on the issue or anything. =D

Why is it that people are willing to blame Christians for being ignorant, when being a Christian is not a requirement for being ignorant? Or rude, hateful, disrespectful, insensitive, mocking, etc.
I'll bet that if you add up the amount of comments on 'Answers' that would fall under any of the aforementioned descriptions, they're probably not overwhelmingly from Christians.
The only prerequisite for being ignorant is being lazy. It takes absolutely no effort to be ignorant. Blaming ignorance on any people group, religious, political, social or otherwise is just ridiculous. People like to be lazy in their thinking, and so they end up exhibiting a lot of ignorance. So to answer your question, it's the human race that is ignorant (existence + no effort = ignorant).
But then lots of people believe we came from a monkey, so what would you actually expect from yourself and everyone else?
Keep trying. The good questions and the good answers are out there. :)

Most people in general are ignorant of any belief system outside of their own. Many non Christains are completely ignorant about what Christaian faith is and what the Bible truly says. As a matter of fact many Christians are ignorant about their own Bible. Also, ignorance is not necessarily equal to stupidity. Perhaps if you have information that you can inform someone of a belief that is incorrect you can teach them and then they will not be ignorant. Experience dictates knowledge-if my only experiences with a Catholic come from Catholics who pray to idols I might believe that all Catholics worship idols. If my only experiences with mormons are with men who practice polygamy I might believe that mormons practice polygamy. And so on......

The problem is that religion is divisive. There's this fear that the other people are not on "God's side" so if they ask those other people directly about their beliefs, then "the devil" might try to deceive the asker, too (cause, the other person is just obviously wrong from the get go, dontcha know).
So, instead, they ask people of their OWN religion about other religions and get the answer that will reinforce their OWN beliefs.
It's just the way religion works, my friend.

I've found most people that are in a majority (Christian, White, Straight, etc) are fairly ignorant of the minorities to that majority.
It's a form of myopia.
When you attack a group you know little about, straw man arguments are easy to do, and will lull the ignorant into accepting your argument.

It is not just Christians who are ill informed about themselves and the world. I see questions in all forums that are based upon false premises. The amazing thing is that so many people actually answer them.

Most people are stupid christian or not. You can't really put a blanket statement like that. I think the majority of christians on YA don't respect other religions or thought processes just like majority of atheists on YA don't respect christian religions or how there thinking.
I know my faith catholic for life.

Hey pot...be careful before calling the kettle black.
Many people (of faith and religion and lack there of...) post things here as fact with their little twist on it.
If someone is wrong, post it...call them on the carpet but don't generalize and group everyone together.
Do not speak for me.
Thank you!

I don't think it's just Christians-- there is just a higher concentration of Christians on Yahoo Answers. Generally that level of ignorance is symptomatic of all fundamentalists, be they Christians, Jews, Muslim, etc.
