hear a song, it makes me cry,. How do I stop being so sensitive and grow stronger as a person mentally? Does that run in the family because my mother is like that also?

i too am a very sensitive person.i cry at songs and sad movies..it just means you have a good heart......and if you know you are a good person as well , then take what other ppl say with a grain of salt. You gotta stop and ask yourself if the person saying these things and what they say worth getting upset over.....try asking them how they meant what they said.(being able to stand up adn take up for yourself is the first step.) and good luck.you can do it......

Don't worry too much about being sensitive to movies and music. What I would concentrate on is rethinking your reactions to what other people say/do. I urge you to read The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. Even if you're not a theist (he does refer to "god" quite a bit) the main messages are extremely helpful and meaningful. Primarily, he points out that what each person says or does has to do with his/her frame of reference, his/her perceptions, his/her reality. Therefore, whatever someone says or does is NOT about you. One of the four agreements is to NOT take things personally because it's not about you.

Hey girl...don't worry. I think it does run in the family. My boyfriend is very sensitive too...many think its weird that a guy is that way, but I believe that he got this from his mom too. She cried when I learned a new word in her language...portuguese.. ha ha.

I don't think there is anything wrong with you, or that being sensitive makes you unstrong, or mentally weak. I think its beautiful that your feelings are so genuine.

It could very well run in the family. If its something that bothers you this much then you need somebody to give you some therapy. You need practice to not react in such a way all the time.

Probably your mother is a role model for you, and you grew up that way. Just go to a kick boxing class, and learn to be stronger.

You obviously have a very gentle heart and that is a good thing.
We need more sensitivity on this planet.
That is what makes you shine bright.

Yes it does. I am adopted but found my birthmom and she was the exact same way. I don't know how to stop. I am on an antidepressant and that helps but not completely.

Don't consider your feelings. Consider the source. Then, don't take it personally.
