cavities around the gumline can be difficult to restore if the decay extends more than a millimeter or so below the tissue. when decay extends further down than that, sometimes it is necessary to remove some tissue before placing the restoration. if the filling that exists in the top of the tooth is large, and if this newly discovered decay is extensive, the tooth may need a crown after the decay is cleaned out and the cavity filled. remember that the more "filling" a tooth has, the more prone to fracture it is. when teeth do fracture, sometimes they cannot be restored at all, so placing a crown befoe that happens is oftentimes prudent if the fillings are large.

Don't be scared. They use a white filling and if for some reason your teeth are not perfectly white, they shade the filling to match what the tooth looks like at that spot.

Ahh, you have no reason to be frightened, they just numb the area where the damage tooth is, clean out the decay, put a little bonding fluid in there and if it is exterior they fill with acrylic, they smooth it off and the acrylic will match your natural tooth. It's done, see it didn't hurt a bit did it?

The same way they do others. Drill it and fill it. If it is covered by your insurance they will do a tooth colored filling, if not, it is up to you or your parents to pay for it, or you will have a metal filling.

have it pulled out any cavity is the death knell of a tooth .filling is painful at best, a constant annoyance afterward and useless expense that at best will only delay the inevitable
