Are you firm in your beliefs? Do you still have nagging questions?
I believe I am a Christian, however I do not take the Bible as literal fact, especially the Old Testament

Wow! thanks for all the answers. Makes my heart feel good!
I'm a senior citizen, raised very strictly in the Episcopal Church. I positively do believe in God and in Jesus. I just have some problems with logic. For instance, I believe all things were created by God, I just believe he did it by means of evolution

To rt66It, I'd never heard of Deism so I looked it up. I am going to read more about it, it sounds like my beliefs fit there very well.

It actually occured over time. I was raised a Methodist, but by the time i was in Sixth Grade (now 27 years ago), I began to see there was more out there, at least from the scientific side. I began to be pretty heavy into science in high school, then began to study religions in the last two years I was in high school. I had an English teacher than encouraged me to continue to study about them (as a comparative-type study, not a theological path).
When I went to college, I took a major in religion. I mainly wanted to study world religions, but wound up taking a lot of classes in the Bible. By the time I had left college, I had read quite a few of the sacred texts of the world's religions (including most of the Bible). I had even read some of the apocryphal Bible (Old and New Testaments). I began to believe in Deism during college, but didn't really have a name for it.
I am a firm believer in Deism today and I really can say I have no nagging questions. It is a very logical, reasoned religion without a sacred text. For me, it works.

I was raised a Baptist and went to church on Sundays, Bible study another evening, choir practice another evening, etc. I never questioned anything until I was 18. I started dating a man who was an atheist (we eventually married). He would ask questions that I could not answer, and for the first time, I began to question my beliefs. Since then, after going to college and learning about different beliefs, plus seeing all the harm religion has caused in this world and is still causing, I became an atheist and a Secular Humanist. The older I get, the more convinced I am that religion should be abolished so that we might all get along better in this world, instead of playing "my god is better than your god." I respect those who believe in a god, but I don't like religious people who try to force their beliefs on others, or who don't respect another person's belief.

13. I quit sunday school and being a catholic just 3 weeks before my confirmation after the priest of parish told my mother she was a bad person for missing church 2 weeks in a row.
About a week later, the same priest, during class, asked me what one had to do to become a good person...I told the priest to go f*ck himself, walked out of the church, walked 2 miles home and have never been to a catholic church on my own accord since.
That's when I began questioning, then my parents sent me to catholic school for high school, and more and more and more questions piled up until I denouced Christianity my junior year (during religion class, no less), and became an athiest.

I was 22 when I excepted Jesus in my life! Now the bible is a very living thing to me! There is nothing in there that is pr oven not true! Think about it why is it such a controversy when the name Jesus is mentioned in a room! The bible is God word! Why do people reject something that is just trying to make you a better person in this world , I don't know! Hypocrites is very known in any conversation with Jesus in it, but Jesus did not say that we were going to be perfect, that's why we shouldn't expect others too , simply show them the exceptance and unconditional love that God has for them!

4 yrs old! I'm luck my parents didn't know my belief since they were a long time ago extreme evangelicals. I would of been punished daily! I don't like evangelical, that brainwashing crap didn't work on me, 4 times a week! I BELIEVE NOT ALL OF IT IS FROM GOD bec man has misinterpreted some of it. Some of it was changed around kings James time for his selfish reason. Ex slaves obey your master and yet God freed the Jewish slaves. I believe some of the real answers are hidden

I was 12, (in my religion puberty is the age of decision). Except for the prophetic and poetry, the OT is literal, Because, the OT and the NT agree in every precept, and the OT is constantly being referred to in the NT, and if you take the NT as literal then it would only be logical to take the Whole Bible as Literal.
I research any and all questions of my belief, that is how I arrived at my beliefs.

Practically all my life I grew up in church. I am a Christian and believe strongly in the bible (all of it). I know there is a heaven and a hell. There is ONE GOD and only ONE GOD!! You have to ask God to come into you heart and forgive you of your sins and believe that Jesus has died on the cross for you and truly mean it. Then you will know you are a christian and that your name has been written in the book of life and when you die you will be going to Heaven. Also you have to go before your church so you can be baptized and become a member so you can start growing and serving the Lord. Good Luck!!! I don't want anybody to have to die and be sent to hell.
I'LL BE PRAYING FOR YOU!!!!!!

I was about 12 and my mom let me make my own decision about "religion" I choose the Lord and still do. I do have some questions, but we are suppose to, it strengthens our faith. I do take the Bible literally though, I think since it is the Word of God we should. PEACE
