I have a panasonic fax machine and it works fine with the answering machine. Set the fax machine to pick up after 5 rings. Set the answering machine to pick up after 3 rings. Usually if the answering machine picks up a fax call, the fax should intercept it. At least that is how the panasonic works.

Set the machines to respond after so many rings. There are line splitters that allow you to hook up a phone and ansering macine to one plug,a fax machine in another and a computer in the third plug and then plug the splitter into the single phone line plug.

particular you could. maximum fax machines have a TAD (telephone answering gadget) function. whilst the fax is in TAD mode, it listens to the call replied via the exterior answering gadget. If it detects a fax being sent, the fax gadget takes over and starts speaking with the fax gadget. If there is not any fax tones, then the fax gadget basically shall we the answering gadget finished the call. On a DSL line, i think of you purely ought to have the filter out on the jack. Then connect the fax gadget. Then connect the answering gadget to the line / TAD jack on your fax gadget. once you have your units in this order, then the TAD function works. seek for suggestion out of your fax gadget instructions to be certain setup. you will need your answering gadget to respond to calls right away, like in 2 rings, so there is adequate time on your fax gadget to nicely known if a fax is being sent. whilst this function exists, it quite is "fragile". I had this setup for awhile, and it did no longer get carry of faxes a hundred% of the time. in case you deliver/get carry of faxes in lots of cases, internet/digital mail fax centers are plenty extra helpful. it may quite value much less to apply internet fax centers each and every each and every now and then.

add distinctive ring service from your phone co..you get a additional phone "number" added to you existing service...you give the new "number" to the fax machine....set the fax to answer the distinctive ring service after 2 or 3 rings and set the answer mach to pick up after 4 or 5 rings..(the distinctive ring sounds like a quick ring, ring as in Europe..versus a steady longer ring here in the us)...i assume the your fax is able to be set to "answer distinctive ringing service" and your phone service provider offers that service...all missed incoming voice calls will be ignored by fax as it has been set to distinctive ring and the distinctive ring will be received by the fax after 2 rings before the answer machine set to 4 or 5 rings picks up the call
