I feel asleep in my contacts & just woke up and now my eyes are red. Will the redness go away soon? Any others exeperienced this? I rinsed my contacts with saline solution too.. really good.

I was told by my eye doctor that falling asleep with contacts in can be bad as the contact lenses may dry up and stick to the upper lid of your eye causing temendous pain and irrability.

Unless you have the kind of contacts that can be left in your eyes for 24hrs. NEVER - NEVER sleep with your contact lenses in. You have to realize that your eyeball is not getting enough oxygen and you can really screw up your corneas and your eyesight by being lazy and not taking out your lenses. I wore contact for a bunch of years and made the same mistake. I was lucky that I only did it once. Your redness will go away it may take a day or so but unless you make this mistake a lot you shouldn't have too much trouble with your eyes. Make sure your contact lenses are always clean as a whistle and that your hands are too before you handle your lenses. Have you thought about getting the kind you can sleep in? I don't know how much more expensive they are but you might want to check with your eye doctor about them. Ifinally saved up enough money & got Lasik eye surgery this year. It's great I only have to wear glasses to read small print and I have 20/20 vision. I love it.

I have toric contacts, and accidentally fell asleep in them. My eyes were red for several days, but it was fine. I wouldn't wear your contacts again until the redness is gone, and would make sure that you put eye drops in your eyes to help keep them moisturized.

Your eyes will be fine. Just use some eye drops. FYI- my eye doc told me that when you peel your contacts off after they have dried to your eye, you are actually peeling off a layer of "skin"from your eyeball. Gross, I know!!! Just remember that and I bet you'll remember to take your contacts out next time :-)
