Yes
But with a caveat - not all dogs are alike.
Toy dogs in general can be hard to potty break, but that's a general rule. My toy dog is 100% potty trained, a rare thing for her breed.
Puppies chew. If this is a problem, then it's not a good idea to get ANY type of dog. Any dog from any breed or group may chew. One puppy may not, but another may be ready to take down a sofa.
Poms are double coated dogs. During shedding season, they will shed. And as with any dog, expect hair loss year round, to some extent.
You should contact a reputable breeder or a pom rescue rep in your area to talk to them about what to expect. They are there to help you get a good match for your lifestyle. If they don't think a pom is right for you, they'll tell you so. Don't be offended, start looking for a different breed.
Good luck in your search. : )

I just got a cream coloured pomeranian puppy. She is adorable and very well tempered! 1. Pros of the breed: -They are incredibly cute -They are really fluffy -They'll make you melt -Great tempered -Loyal companion 2.Cons of the breed -They need to be trained from a very young age so they'll learn quickly -They don't know how small they actully are so sometimes they may act a little dominant -They can give you sometimes alittle extra work 3. Are they active? All small dogs get tired really quickly, however a walk to the park is all the activity that need! 4.Feeding: They'll need to be feed atleast once of twice a day. Just so that they aren't hungry and to also get the nutrition they need. I've only had my pomeranian for a week, however I have enjoyed every second that I spend with her. You've picked an excellant breed of dog. And the cutest you can get! I hope this helps!! :)

They shed like any other dog and need regular grooming to keep their coats looking good. All puppies bite and chew on things, especially while teething. All of them need to be trained - breed has nothing to do with it. And yes, some of the toy breeds are a bit difficult to housetrain - you'll need to get a crate for when you're not home and at night.

I had a pomeranian before and they are very playful. No, they are not hard to housetrain... but when you do housetrain dogs you have to be with them 24/7. Or just buy a clicker at petsmart and the books that goes along with it called Clicker Training. I've used clicker training on my dogs and they are potty trained, they play dead, jump, flip over, sit, and lie on command. Very cute! And, yes every dog at a certain age (teething) they want to bite everything. I wouldn't worry too much about sheding. Most dogs with less poofy hair like short-haired chihuahuas shed alot compared to lets say... maltese. Hope that helps.

You should do it, I love mine to death! they're so smart! They do shed not alot but they do, you can minimize that by brushing every day, Mine has never chewed on furniture but she will chew on cords. She's trained not to do that anymore though. She was very easy to housetrain, after a couple of months she knew that if she had to go outside she would sit in front of the door quitely until we let her out. i hope you get one mine is the best dog I've ever owned! Good Luck!

They shed very little as long as their hair is kept short. I have one that's probably a year old he is very smart.he was already house broken. He does't chew stuff up. If you are getting a puppy, make sure it has plenty of chew toys, soup bones etc. because their permanent teeth are still growing an it bothers them. I hope this helps!!! You might watch the dog show this weekend, the anouncer always gives a short spiel about the charactistics of each type of dog.

I have a pom and they are so cute. I very highly recommend owning one. They are very loving and they want all of ur attention. (My dog is very jealous and protective of me) Mine sheds alot. I always have his fur on me. But I just use lint rollers (they have one for pet hair) and it really doesnt bother me that much. Mine chews on everything u leave laying around. But thats every animal. He was pretty easy to house train he just hates leashes. They are kind of hard to bathe though. Their fur has layers and its hard to get the bottom layer wet. I hate bathing my dog. Thats the only thing that I wish i knew b4 i got him!

I had one for about 8 years but he developed seizures so we adopted him out to someone who could spent a lot of time with him. Pomeranians kinda get a bad rap. They are known as a yippy dog. My pooch was EXTREMELY intelligent. He loved to play and loved car rides. I really think that it depends on how you are with your puppy. They are a little stubborn when it comes to house training, but thats to be expected with any animal. As far as training, I didnt have an issue. Regular brushing helped control that problem.
