If you visit http://www.boeing.com/ they have a page that explains what it takes to assemble a commercial aircraft. They state that it takes about 4 1/2 months to assemble the aircraft.

They expect to build over 118 planes during the first 18 months. that means they have to build 6-7 787s every month.
