I have been friends with a older man for a year now. Over this time we have developed a solid friendship. We talk to each other every day. Over the course of this time i have developed feelings for him and at the beginning he made it clear i was too young. but he continues to talk to me every day and confides in me. How should I approach him?

ok everyone thank you for your caring and sincere answers. I am 21 and he is 35. that is the age difference. Things have changed alot since our friendship began.

just be open and strong and let him know... being honest i have found is the best way... What is the age difference...? I had an 8 year with my ex and he thought it was too big of a difference as well and we really got along well... I moved for a dream job so i gave him up... I do not regret it, but i sure do miss him... so give it a shot and if he doesn't feel the same, oh well... you still have your friendship...

A man and a woman can develop a solid friendship without meaning anything or leading to anything. I have had very good and close female friends but that's all we were, just friends.
If he did the right thing and let you know that you are too young for him then you should accept it and not get involved in something that might later break your heart. The fact that he continues to approach you ( you do not specify in what manner) does not mean anything, he might just see you a young but mature friend?? What is the age difference?
Think with your HEAD not with your heart, make wise decisions and don't let your heart cloud your judgment. :->

That really depends on how old you are. I'm sure you are a very nice girl who deserves the attention that your getting from this guy but depending on the age difference you may want to keep your crush to yourself. If at the beginning he said that your too young then he was probably doing the right thing and looking out for your best interest. However, if your over 21 go get your man!

Some important elements missing. Is he married; what IS your age difference; are you over 18? If all is clear, bring the conversation back to the subject in a friendly dispassionate way to dig at his feelings in an honest, sincere way.

I would bet that he has similar feelings and doesn't want to make the first move because of your age difference. I think you should just tell him that you think he's a good man, that you love his company, that age doesn't matter to you, and does he think that there's a chance you two could be a couple.

Don't approach him at all about it. Maintain the friendship, and when he thinks your old enough, HE'LL approach YOU.
Are we talking months years or decades here by the way? How long do you want to wait?

tell him... when you are together, somewhere a little more private, talk to him about how you feel, that you may be younger, but that it isn't something to let get in the way... ask him just to try and see what may come.. this could be something neither of you thought possible...

Honestly. R U under18? Then he wants to wait, otherwise it is just a hang-up 4 him. Be open and talk.
