Call a new credit card company and inquire about a "balance transfer" but you have to have fairly decent credit in order to switch like that.

Most credit cards will give you checks that you can use to pay off other credit cards. You can also get cash advances from your card and deposit the money in your account to pay off the other cards.

You have to contact both credit card companies and ask about balance transfers. Then you tell the card you transferred the balance FROM that you are cancelling your card.

Contact the credit card company you want to transfer it to and ask if you can. They should let you do it.

The only one that needs to approve it is the new company you want to transfer it to.
