How easy is it to buy one (cost) and are they easy to
activate?

I mean the USA. I hear disposable phones are really popular in Japan. I'm not planning on doing anything illegal, like selling drugs, but since I am always losing my cellphones, I thought it might be a good idea.

I don't think any of the ones sold in the US are biodegradable. Prepaid is your best bet although I don't really think of them as disposable. Phones and rates are so cheap that they can indeed be used that way. No contract, no credit check, and you can buy with cash.

Activation (often via automated phone system) is quick and easy. The information you provide pretty much helps determine what area code you are assigned.

Disposable phones? Why would you even think of doing such a thing. Disposability is a term used only by lazy idiots and greedy manufacurers who don't care about the environment.

Unfortunately, they are available. They're mostly used by suspicious people. You know, drug dealers, terrorists, and that sort of person.

If you don't want one in order to conduct illegal business, get a real cell phone with a plan. It will be cheaper.
