As an atheist, I have no authority here, but think about this: Would it not depend on the reason that they commited such an act?
If it happened as a result of mental illness (which God bestowed), would it not be a terrible unjustice to condemn them for such? Suicide is most often a result of serious medical illness. It is not a sin, not a character flaw, and NOT THEIR FAULT.
Think about it, and I encourage you to do a bit of research.
Would an all-good, all-powerful God allow someone to have mental illness, and if so, would he punish them for the results therein?

I am regularly stunned by the number of people who think "salvation" can't be removed.
Read your Bible people! Romans quite clearly states that you can lose heaven if you don't keep up.
Dear Questioner: No one on earth can tell you what happens to a suicide. Each case is different as each person is different.
In the past, Christianity condemned suicide because murder, even murder of the self, is wrong. Thou Shalt Not Kill.
However, modern Christianity understands mental illness. The modern church no longer condemns all suicides to hell.
Some may still be self murder. Without any mental illness at all. That person may go to hell. Regardless of their belief in Christ.
Once again our friend Iblis is WAY off base. There are many Hebrew words that have been white washed into the generic Hell we use in our modern bibles. Not one of them means The Grave. Sheol, Hades, Gehenna - just to name a few.
Ah my Atheist friend below, Excellent Excellent answer!!!

Quite frankly, nobody knows. People make guesses, sometimes based on other people's guesses, but nobody can promise you anything about this.
Personally I don't believe in heaven and hell or god, but if you believe in a god and think it is a fair and loving god, do you think he'd deny someone entrance into heaven because they were mentally ill? Because that's what suicide almost always is, the result of a mental illness.

That's funny that there's rules and exceptions people pull out of there a$$ arbitrarily as to which type of suicide God decides will send you to heaven or hell.

GOD has a place for everyone one of his creature like the aborted or those who have committed suicide. HE also has a place for HIS sons and daughters. Heaven.

It depends on why they killed themselves. The jumpers from the burning buildings in 911 killed themselves, but I do not believe they will be punished for that. God will judge you by what is in your heart. If you killed yourself to spite or to hurt another, then I believe you will probably not be spending eternity with God.

salvation cannot be removed so a saved person would yes...but i doubt a saved person would take their faith out of god and do such a thing

Edit:
I see alot of confusion around this. So allow me to explain my response. Firstly the calling of suicide a mrtal sin is not biblical...in other words that statement is not in scripture...it is most likely a catholic traditional statement that has just worked itself into one of those "its in the bible but i dont know where" statements.
Let me pose a question to get an answer. The bible says that works cannot provide salvation, we are saved by grace and grace alone. This is a one time deal when you are saved the holy spirit descends on you and there it stays...now here biblically can you support the claim that the holy spirit comes and goes from a saved person. its is the helper that christ promised through faith in him. Now stay with me here...if you cant do anything to gain favor or salvation what acts can be dont to remove it. Salvation is a permanent gift..not revoked.
That being said we have to examine the life of a individual that would commit suicide. sure we have all despaired, christians are not immune to depression, but through christ we have faith in god and that his will for our lives will be done. you may not like your situation but its in gods control. christians know god is in control...there fore i have a hard time swallowing that a christian would commit suicide as if he were not

Max Marie is confusing christianity with catholicism, grace with dogmatic tradition. UNfortunately she made no pont she just said read romans...its my belief that she is either catholic or not a christian together, but i could be wrong. Her argument was empty. there was no realt scriptural refernce im stunned she could think that was convincing

I believe a person who commits suicide can still be saved (if they were saved before this act) because they had to be mentally impaired when they took their own life.

No, ones who committ suicide go to hell
i dont know about other religions but in my religion (Islam) God tells us in Quran that u have duties towards ur self, and others.
God orders us not to hurt others and not to hurt ourselves in anyway.
another explaination from Islam is that God is the one who decides when we live, die, have accidents, heal..etc
so when someone kills himself, he is interfering with God's will, choosing the time to end his life.
i hope ur asking this question only out of curiosity, not actually thinking about this
God bless
