I have two tattoos...one on my shoulder and one on my foot. The shoulder tattoo was my first and it hurt far less than the tattoo on my foot. The skin on feet is very thin in comparison to the shoulder. My point is this...it is all about location. Certain parts of the body are more sensitive than others. I soared through my shoulder tattoo with no problems. It wasn't painful. It felt like a minor irritation when it was being done. I followed all instructions afterwards, and it healed without any problems. My second tattoo hurt, but luckily it's a tiny little thing so it didn't take too much tolerance to suffer through it.

I have 3 tattoos. One on my hip next to my pelvis bone, one on my lower back, and one on my foot.
The one on my hip was my first, and the least painful of the 3. Its on a softer area than either of the other 2, so that is probably why. It was more annoying than painful.
The one on my lower back only really hurt when she was right around my spine. Most of it just felt like scratches going all the way up my back.
I got the third one a couple of months ago. It was very painful!
The pain of any tattoo is only temporary! It only really hurts while they're doing it, and it may be a little sore for a couple of days.
The pain is part of getting a tattoo. Don't let the pain factor determine where you get a tattoo on your body or how large it is.

It mostly depends on your pain tolerance. Also where you get it done. Not ALL tattoos hurt. I have 4 and only 1 of them stung a little bit. Noone can tell you that they all hurt because it's different for everybody. Some people can take pain like it's nothing and others can't handle pain at all. It all depends on your tolerance.
My very first tattoo is on my shoulder blade and it didnt hurt at all until the guy was almost done. But that was because i was so nervous..lol
Hope this helps and good luck.

The pain varies on where you are thinking of having it done it kind of feels like someone scratching you with a peice of glass but you are expecting great pain and once they start you kind of think 'it not as bad as i thought it would be'. I found that the top of the arm is not too bad, the back of the arm is quite sore and the most painfull is the ankle i got a small devil done here and it really kills had to get the tattooist to stop once because i got really bad pins and needles in my leg but anywhere that there is a lot of flesh is not too bad and anywhere that is tender or the bone is close to the skin is painfull hope this is a help.

It is going to be uncomfortable of course. How much it hurts depends on your pain tolerance level, and also where on your body you choose to get it at. For a first tattoo, somewhere "fleshy" is usually a good place to go, such as the upper arm. Having one placed in a bony area (ankle for example) tends to hurt a bit more. In my experience, the most painful place to have one put at is on the finger, especially if it's a ring styled one and the artist goes into the webbing between the fingers.

I have 3 tattoos. On the back of my neck, lower back, and my ankle. My first was a butterfly on the lower back. I was so scared that it was going to hurt but it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. At first it will be a little painful but then you kind of get used to it. Then one that hurt the worst was the one on my ankle. My advice is that if it gets to hurting too bad then ask the artist if they can stop for a few minutes. Good luck.

I quess I would have to agree with everyone else. It depends on where and how much pain you can stand. I have a tat from hip bone to hip bone of a leopard skin tribal thats kick ***! Its pretty big! Then the Harley Davidson symbol on the small of my back. I didnt think they hurt. It was just annoying, irritating. I also have my clit pierced and other parts as well. If you set yourself up for pain thats what you will get. If you go in acting tough as nails like your a hard core bad *** youll will hold out alot better then being afraid and thinking it will hurt. Its all in your head. Think about a guy you like or sing a song in your mind, anything to take your mind off whats happening.

theyre all gonna hurt some, depends on where they are placed. my lower back was my first and its big it hurt only a little. the first time the needle went in i didnt know really what to expect and so that was like a surprise. then it hurt when the tattoo went where a nerve was. like i remember having a stinging in my neck and my arm at diff time thru the tat. my next two were little but i got them on my lower stomach one on left other on right, they hurt cuz they were in a more sensitive place. but theyre not like so painful makes you wanna cry.

Hi,
Yes,it does hurt abit and sometimes alot depending on the area selected to be tattooed. If its a sensitive area like bones, vein and nerve connection,it really hurts, sometimes if the tattooist is new in his profession also can make you feel the pain, etc,
Please go through my experience maybe it helps you.
I have got a tattoo done on my body 5 years back!!!
It was a hillarious feeling!!!
I was excited because of getting a tattoo to be done on me and the type of tatoo of my choice!!!
It was pen sort of needle and some steriods were applied of sort of liquid and wax lotion was applied.
The sensation was quite warm and like a mild sunburn feel in the beginning and later on it felt like being pinched at certain areas while being tattooed.
Later on ,on sensitive areas like bones and the nerve and vein connection close to the skin did hurt alot as though my skin was going to be torn a part,I screamed and the tattoist was a nice bloke he halted and gave me some lollypop to stooth off and distract my attention.
It only hurted really badly when the needle was piercing through the bonny and nerve and vein area of my skin.
But the final out come of my tatoo was grand phemenonal experience to me and all I can say, even after that 5 years,I yet look at my tatoo and feel soooo proud to have got it done.It feels like a trophy on my body and it was worth it giving a go for getting this tattoo done on myself.
I am very proud about it because I love my tatoo to bits and admire it everyday!!!

It does hurt at first but then you get used to the pain. I love getting tattoo's. And it does really depend on where you get it. I have three. One on each of my ankles and one on my leg. Maybe you should just get drunk. Make sure someone is with you to tell the guy what ya want. LOL! I'm just playin.
