I would just give him time. You have done all you can do. You told him you are there for him. He obviously just needs to be alone at the moment or spending time with his family or his friend's family.
Just be patient. He'll come to you when he's ready. The very best thing you can do for him is just be patient. He'll appreciate that in the end.

No, I don't think you did any damage. I recently lost my father. For a few days my boyfriend was calling me letting me know how much he cared about me. I was just in so much pain that I didn't want to talk to anyone. He's not upset with you. He's just in mourning. Give him time. He will come around. It's hard to lose someone close to you.

I wouldnt text him anymore. Give him the space he needs. Guys dont like showing they are upset. They rather stay to themselves. Crazy I know but a guy told me this a long time ago. If you dont hear from him in about a week or so then go ahead and move on.
Godd luck!

If your boyfriend really loved you, I would think that he would have shared this sort of news with you. The fact that he did not tell you and left you out in the dark does not bode well for your relationship. You have nothing to feel bad about or feel sorry for. He should have told you.

I think he just needs his space. And its good that you're letting him have it. I know someone whos bestfriend died and his g/f was just too much and they soon broke up. If you really like him, just give it some more time. And maybe try to call him instead of text.

It is important to know that different people react differently to loss. Some want to talk about it, lessen the pain, others need to be silent and go over in their mind the sense of what just happened. Allow your boyfriend to deal with his loss and come to you. You cannot avoid loss in our world and I am sure your boyfriend doesnt want to do something crazy to himself. So allow him to grieve dont force your way in and you didnt do a thing wrong at all. relax...
