Ask your local volunteer firehouse or church if you can put on a spaghetti supper fundraiser - they have the kitchen and the dining facilities. With cheap ingredients, and little or no overhead, I've seen a number of these be quite successful.

Get a group of people together, maybe ask brownie or girl scout troups or other NATIONAL kids groups to set up a "bracelet making day".

Ask the local school to allow them to set up and sell the bracelets during lunch or before and after school, etc. Have the group/troup make posters that have the little girls picture on it and a bit of her story and why it is so important for her to have a kidney transplant.

All craft stores have tons of jewelry making supplies. Bracelets would require less materials than a necklace and take less time. You might try to get a particular craft store (Michael's or Joanne's) to agree to give a discount for the supplies or make their own donation to her cause (i.e. they could donate 25 cents for every dollar that someone spends for supplies for this project).

Also, craft stores often have classes and you could ask the troop/group leaders to ask if they would host a bracelet making class and invite the public in to also make the bracelets - and also ask for permission to set up outside the store and sell the bracelets. The store gets great publicity with this type of thing.

Might even get the news stations involved to do a story on the classes before they start, film coverage of the class and then also the sale of the bracelets - during the sale you can have people out on the streets with signs - like they do for car washes - encouraging people to buy the bracelets.

I would recommend making every bracelet the same - to make it quick to sell - there will be no milling through everything trying to find one they like. In my mind I'm seeing red beads with a silver heart charm dangling from it.

Bless your heart for wanting to help someone in your community.

talk to your local newspaper or the city next to you that may be larger....they can help put together a fundraiser or a plea to help from the Readers. Our local Toronto newpaper is great for that, they write an article about the child and their plight as well as including a bank account # to which the donations go to. I find a story that tugs at the heart strings of readers alway helps to open wallets to help.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.

They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!

This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.

It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.
