Hi Sarah...if your cat doesn't poop (feces) at least once a day this is not normal. An active cat who is eating and drinking regularly is healthy, but also should have at least one movement (feces) a day. Please consider telephoning a veterinarian to have him checked to make sure he isn't constipated. This can cause problems if not treated early enough.

Most cats will also become very active right before they have to go to the bathroom (feces) too, not only afterwards. Hopefully, I understood your question to help you best.

The way I read your question, you're worried because you only notice your cat use the litter box (for #2) every three days or so, and you think he might be leaving "presents" elsewhere, is that right?

Not all cats go regularly. Some cats don't need to do #2 more often than that. Since you're not finding anything while cleaning, my assumption is that he doesn't go between his "official" goings. I don't think there is any reason to worry, unless there are any signs that he's feeling unwell. But if his droppings are "normal" and he seems happy, then it's probably just the way he is.

Or are you saying he's extremely active just afterwards but that he isn't active normally?

If that's so, some cats are also like that, almost as if they get an energy burst from it ^^; I don't really know why, though.

If you are worried there's something wrong with him, or if he's changed his behaviour from how he used to be (you don't say if you just got him, or if you've had him for a long time and it's just now that he's started doing this), you can always take him to a vet for a check up.

LOL! You don't know much about "pure-bread" cats first it is spelled breed or bred. Long furred monster?? normal egyptian cat? There are several breeds that are a natural breed and have long, medium and short fur. I haven't met a long furred monster cat coming from any breeder. Unless it is a bad breeder. The Maine Coon is a natural breed from the United States. Originated the state of Maine. Read up on the breed. And with a "Pure-Bread" cat you do know what to expect in health and temperament and of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder. With a "normal cat" you don't know its background what is in the family lines, what genetic defaults, health issues are. Now stating that kittens from the same litter can grow up differently just as any brother and sister they will not all be the same. Genetics plays a big part in that. I can't understand why people call others names just because they have different opinions. No two people think, look or act alike and all should be respected for their likes and opinions even if they are not what you believe in. R P Cat Maine Coons YEP One of those "Pure-Breads" LOL

If you mean is it normal for him to be straining to release the stool.....that depends upon how difficult a time he seems to be having.
If is that and of concern, try different type food or check with vet.

If you mean running and playful afterwards, completely normal!!
