Do you think that I have a good golf set?

I'm 14 years old with about a 12-13 handicap. I have been playing for only around six months. I am going to try out for the Freshman golf team at my school so I want to know if my clubs are up to par.

Driver: Taylormade r7 460 w/Grafalloy ProLaunch Blue 45 gram shaft, reg. flex.

3 and 5 woods: Taylormade r7 titanium w/Grafalloy Prolaunch Blue 55 gram shafts, reg. flex.

4 and 5 Hybrids: Callaway X-Hybrid w/Grafalloy ProLaunch Hybrid shafts, reg. flex.

6-7 irons: Callaway Big Bertha Fusion Wide Sole Irons w/Grafalloy ProLaunch Iron shafts, reg. flex.

8-PW: Callaway Big Bertha Fusion Irons w/Grafalloy ProLaunch Iron shafts, reg. flex.

51, 56, 61 degree Wedges: Taylormade Rac Black TP w/True Temper GS 75 Wedge Shaft (lightest steel shaft on market, 75 grams.)

Putter: Odyssey Tri-Ball SRT Putter, 34 inches.

Ball: Callaway HX Tour 56

If you think that there is something wrong with my clubs, please say so.

I earned these clubs by caddying and cleaning clubs at my home course for years. I also work at a local Golfsmith during the summer and after school.

Oh yeah, they are custom fitted to my swing and my body measurements.

I've only been playing golf for 8 months. I practice for about 6 hours each day and don't take lessons.

I think you have an excellent set of clubs. It seems you made the right choices putting them togeather.

However it doesnt matter what any one else things , it only matters what you think and I believe you feel very good about the set.

Your freshman golf team is going to get a great new addition, just relax and play your own game when trying out.

Good luck and see you on the PGA tour in about 10 years.

Those are some of the BEST clubs on the market. You must have done A LOT of work to earn that much money. If you don't like the clubs, though, it doesn't matter what they are. I own a $30 Wilson Harmonized putter, and I really like it. It's all opinion. I got an answer from some guy when I asked a golf equipment question that said he got a Ram 3-wood for 10 bucks. Who knows?

You've got the hots for Taylormade and Callaway stuff huh? The clubs are only the tools you might need to play the game,but the clubs need a player who can consistently have solid swings. Have you ever thought of getting lessons from a pro? It's not to say you're not play good, but I think you have the potential to do better! Good luck with golf and have fun! Nice choices!

Sounds like the freshmen team will be lucky to have you on board.

Just remember Tiger Woods can beat us with a set of clubs he picks up at Wal-Mart on his way to the course.

What this means is that the skill and talent of a player is far more important then the equipment.

Yes clubs are important. But a good swing made with a bad club will always produce a better shot than a bad swing with a good club.

Your golf clubs are more than attaquit. being a 12 to 13 hadicap, it dosen't much matter, ecept for bagging. as long as you stick with cavity back's, and non tour model driver and woods you'll be fine. probably want to move to firm or stiff shaft, especially in the graffaloy, there reg is very wippy. even the stiff is like other brands reg. stiff shafts will help your accuracy, and you wont lose any distance, like veryone thinks. thats not even close to being true. only people over 60 or so should use reg shafts.

they are pretty good golf clubs..the callaway big bertha irons are usually for beginners though. so when you improve to shoot in the 70's, you should change to more advanced irons. i recommend callaway. and for your wedges, cleveland makes the best ones so i recommend that too. also choosing the right golf ball has an effect when you become an advanced player. more than half of the golfers these days use titleist pro-v 1.

If you want to build a solid golf swing, the irons are a good way to start. If you want to just go out every once in a while and whack it around the course, then the hybrids are a good idea. The reason no pros use hybrids is because blade irons tend to be more consistent and deliver a stronger feel that the pros prefer.

Wow.........that's a very impressive bag of clubs you have there...
Congrats on doing so well.....With all the practising and lessons you are getting I'm sure your going to be a scratch golfer in no time!!!

Only you can tell if these clubs are working for you.....some golfers prefer different drivers...irons...wedges, and putters...its a personal preference....but I sure don't see anything wrong with yours!!!

That is a great set of clubs. The only recommendation i can make is dependant on how fast your club speed is you might want to consider steel shafted irons. if you club speed is 95 mph or above you need either firm graphite shafts or firm or uniflex steel shafts.

You have an excellent set of clubs and I wish you good luck in the future. There is a catch though, it doesn't matter how good or expensive your equipment is, all that matters is that you put them to good use and have fun while playing with them! I hope you make the team!
