PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS!!! It takes a special complexion to carry off blonde hair and it is not the same one that looks good with black. I had very dark brown hair, some called it black. I decided blonde highlights would look good. I WAS SO VERY WRONG. Try a different style or cut but don't alter your hair so that you have both extremes.

I agree with a previous answer that blonde may not be the way to go. I have black hair also, and with thick blonde highlights, it tends to resemble a skunk. When you go to the salon, ask the stylist to show you a display of the different color tones they have and try to find something that blends more into your natural hair, whether its blonde or not. That way you won't be rushing to hurry back every few weeks for a touch up if it is close enough to your natural hair. You might be pleasantly surprised!

Blond highlights will look awful. Unnatural, plus if your hair is really dark, it will never be the natural blond you want, but it will turn orange or yellow.
Why not try some burgundy or even electric blue highlights? It will add dimension and interest to your hair.

I suppose since your hair is quite dark that blonde would really stand out. I think perhaps golden blonde or even if you ask for caramel the contrast would look great, without it looking unbalanced. hope this helps you.

I'd go for a caramel blonde and then later try to work your way to BLONDE....don't do too much damage to your hair in one session...
Good luck sweetie

don't do it. i bet your hair is lovely. i had highligthed my hair for years and since having a baby i don't have the time to go and my natural colour is back and it's beautiful. why did i ever ruin my hair with highlights. my hair is so shiny and soft but it used to be dull and dry with highlights. if you highlight your dark hair this effect will be worse. don't do it.

If I were you, I'd buy some fake hair pieces and clip them in your hair. Use them for months then if you still want it done go for it at least you'll know for sure. Hayley-May
