I bought a framed painting for my fiance for one of his Christmas presents. It is the type of painting in which it's not smooth. The paint is raised and has texture. Not sure what it's called. It is rather large in size also. It is on canvas with a frame around it.

Anywys, I want to properly wrap it so it is protected and so he doesn't see it. =)

How do I protect the paint from chipping off? What material do I use?

Can anyone help me?

First wrap it in a layer of tissue paper, then at least one layer of bubble wrap, paying special attention to the corners and bottom. Then, you're ready for the gift wrap. If you're wrapping it to send it to someone, do all the above, then box it.

okay what u do is get some butch paper, white or brown it doesnt matter
u then put the painting facedown on the paper gently and then u fold over th back of the canvas, staple the paper down o the wooden frame on the corners
then u can wrap it fom there id put a layer or two just in case extra, then u can wrap it up in wrapping paper or whatever ud like
also if ur concerned about paint chipping off go to the art store and buy an aerosol spray called fixative
u have to be 18 to buy it in most stores adn u spray a thin layer a few feet away on to it let it dry hit it with a few coats and maybe use some spray gloss to make it shine if not just use the fixative good luck and let the painting dry overnite with the fixative on it!! or else itll like smear goo dluck and happy painting

If the place you bought it does not have a box to fit it, you can go to a shipping center and have a box custom made. I would wrap it in a soft, clean blanket maybe a fleece throw. You can get one at Wal Mart for less than $5, and it would be a bonus gift!
