I recently switched from the Gillette Trac 2 to the Mach 3 because I wanted a closer shave. I am now getting that closer shave but I'm also starting to get acne on a regular basis. A pimple used to appear from time to time, but this is a bit more significant and the start point is exactly when I switched. Same shaving cream, same aftershave, more acne.

Has anyone ever faced this problem and do you have a solution (besides the obvious one of going back to the Trac 2)?

Thanks

J

Sounds like it's razor bumps from the in-grown hairs that you will most likely get from a close shave.

If you want to continue to get the close shave, use a depilatory. It eliminates the usage of a razor and helps prevent razor bumps (it works for my husband).

Any kind of gillette can produce acne, because of a gillette opens your pores... you should use after shave lotion or an electric shaver. I usualy do both of this solutions.

My husband had the same problem. His dermatologist said the conditioner was too much for his skin and irritated the micro fissures the blades were leaving in his skin. She said also that facial scrub that is very rough can do the same thing(apricot scrub)...she put him on a regimine of salicylic acid cleanser (creamy) and told him to stop using that razor and go back to his old one.No more acne....

This may be a shaving rash as opposed to acne. I find the mac 3 cuts up my face an then i get this bobbly red rash all over where i just shaved .. so it may be you have sensitive skin.

The other option is to grow a beard.

There are many cheap and effective home remedies for acne. Tomato slices, turmeric, papaya juices and home made face packs will treat existing pimples and prevent further problems. More remedies at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/acne.html

If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.

For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.

Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

might be due to dryness of skin bc of closer shave. when the skin gets too dry it tries to make oils to moisturize but ends up getting acne (mine does when my face dries out) try some face lotion to combat dryness .... hope this helps

Are you sure it's not in-grown hairs from the closer shave?
