Christianity is all about interpretation. Some people (fundamentalists) believe the Bible word for word.
(see http://godhatesshrimp.com/) Non-Christians like to make fun of fundamentalists because if you take the Bible literally then that means they can sell their daughters into slavery, etc. Fun stuff like that. However, most people don't think that the Bible is to be taken literally but interpreted. For instance, the people mentioned in the Bible weren't real but were instead characters designed to teach Christians a lesson. What is interpreted and what is taken at face value depends on the branch of Christianity and the individual churches themselves.

a lot of people don't understand the Word and people find reasonsand resiurces to justify their own beliefs and change the meaning of the Word making the Word false this can never happen because the Word is irrefutable, inerrant, and infallable That's why He tells us to be submissive this is an attitude and service you have to pray and ask God to reveal to you a revelation and He will do this on your level as you move higher in your spiritual maturity. you will start having a greater understanding of the Word not just by reading and praying but also meditating and applying it to your life through the week. Then you will not need so many other inerpretations of theWord you'll understand the Word because He's given you spiritual discernment about life. The Bible is our Christian manual. It covers everythin and I mean everything you have to also study context of the passage and the history this will help also. Commentaries are a christians best friend

Maybe they think they'll get the answers they're looking for in an easier-to-understand way. Someone else's study, beliefs, and findings. Maybe they can't read very well and try to wrestle with the King James Version, or one without explanatory notes.
I also agree with one of your other answers, that they find it scary. It can be off-putting, realising this need. We find other books to read because we're afraid of what we might find written in the Bible. Once we've got the knowledge, there's not the excuse of ignorance any more; we'll be forced to take action (go to church, get baptised, tell people, perhaps).

Oh please!!!! The Bible was written by men. Men who desired power. They used fear to gain this power and control the masses. Add to that the priests who chose the books of the bible over 400 years after Jesus died. Many books were not included because they did not further the position of the church. Add to that the hundreds of times it has been re-translated. Add to that, it makes no sense. Add to that the hundreds of different translations for 90% of the scriptures.
You are free to live your life in fear of an imaginary place. I choose to believe that Jesus was a good man. Maybe even a prophet. All Jesus hoped for was that we all treat others the way we want to be treated.

It is only by reading all relevant literature that serious research can be carried out. Christians criticise "other books", but rarely read them. This is a natural reaction to religious conditioning, to claim the falsity of material that so very few have read, or even heard of. I read ALL religious material, and associated historical material, including the Bible, which is part of a belief system, like many others that claims the truth. They all do!!!!

simply because people are too lazy to read the bible. It bores them. While some books sounds interesting. just like a movie, it has different versions.

Because the bible is blasphamy in it's self...it was not written BY GOD... sooooo....The Basic principles conveyed are simply the beliefs of those writing the individual books...could be a bunch of crazies...If someone in the modern day said "God" spoke to them...they'd be locked up!

Praise be to Allah,
Islam is not based on the opinion of anyone other than Allah and his Prophet and both of them have told us that when a kafr comes to us challenging what we believe that we should recite to them Surat Al Kafiroon.
Also Allah says in the Interpretation of the meaning that the Believers are those who:
"When they hear vain foolish talk they turn away therefrom and say: "To us our deeds and to you yours; peace be to you: we seek not the ignorant." (Quran 28.55)
No where in Islam does it state for us to prove anything to the Kufar, and there is no authentic hadith on this earth that states the prophet or any of his companions used to sit around debating and trying to prove to the kufar that their books are corrupt. No where does islam state the prophet or his companions used the bible or torah to give dawah or prove anything at all.
For those Muslims who indulge in this ignorant behavior, it is for you to bring the evidence where the prophet or Allah sanctioned this.
AND ALLAH KNOWS BEST
