They are generally referred to as the giants I believe. The American Standard Version of the bible says...
4. The Nephilim were in the earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of God came unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them: the same were the mighty men that were of old, the men of renown.
The King James says...

There is another reference to them later in Numbers 13:33...
33. And there we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak, who come from the Nephilim); and we seemed to ourselves like grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them."
So they were a race of very tall people.
SPECULATION MODE ON:
I think I remember reading somewhere that Goliath would have been kin to the Nephilim. He was between 8 and 9 feet tall.

Nephilim= Giants,or Titans..The 1/3 of angels that fell with Lucifer,saw that the women of earth were beautiful. So they(angels) kept not their 1st estate,but fell to earth and possesed earthy men ,so thay could perform intercourse. The impregnanted Earthly women then bore Nephilim= Giants,Titans. This was part of Satans plan to keep the Messiah(Jesus Christ) from coming. that is why God sent the flood. Only Noah, and his family werent mixed with these Nephilims.

The angels which followed Lucifer and were thrown out of heaven, came to earth and had sexual relations with human women. The offspring of these unions are called the nephilim. The were different from mankind due to the input of angelic traits. Some of them were giants. Possibly some of them are what we call Neanderthal's today. When God destroyed the world with the flood, they were wiped out. The Bible says that God chose to save Noah and his family because they were perfect in all their generations (no nephilim).

The Book of Enoch explains many things that the fallen angels did before the flood. The Jewish historian Josephus Flavius also documented the existence of these fallen angels and the giants. Nephilim were giants, people probably nine or ten feet tall these may have been the same people mentioned in Numbers 13:33. Aka Goliath in 1 Sam 17.

The nephilim are the offspring of the sons of God (angels) and the daughters of man (women). They were giants, rather incorrigible, and one of the reasons for the Biblical flood. They lusted after women and their beautiful hair. That's one of the reasons women cover themselves...so as not to tempt the angels.

nephilim is another word for giants, some other books of the bible that were banned from being canonized explain on these people. they were desendants of angles that had sex with mortal women and the nephilim are hugh giant people, some say that Goaliath was one of the nephilim.

The nephilim were giants. They came from angels who came down to earth and materialized and had sex with humans. That is why God no longer allows angels to materialize into humans.
