Jesus almost certainly died while impaled on a simple stake, rather than a cross of two intersecting beams. Of course the Romans had the ability to create such devices, and probably did. But ask yourself: why they would have bothered when a simple stake would have worked just as well or better?

It is also enlightening to examine other relevant Scriptures.

You may be interested to see how your own copy of the bible translates Acts 5:30, Galatians 3:13, Deuteronomy 21:22, 23, and Acts 10:39. The King James, Revised Standard, Dyaglott, and Jerusalem Bible translate the instrument of Christ's death simply as "stake" or "tree" because the original wording simply does not support the idea that this was more than a piece of upright wood.

It is also eye-opening to examine how the first-century Christians felt about idols of any kind, much less one that glorified an instrument of death.

Doesn't much matter if I could go back in time or not. If I witnesses someone haven been beaten beyond recognition being hung up by nailing them up.........I would certainly be disturbed that the human race is not only capable of such cruelty but that the rest of us were helpless to do anything about it.

I am quite sure I would be enraged and probably cry as well.

I would be moved. In fact there is this song that sings about someone at the time who "went to see you but they said you were took away" I often wonder if I would be as the first followers and run away, or would I be like the strong women who stayed by the foot of the cross.

I probably would have been like the disciples who thought that their King was dying who going to establish His kingdom on the earth and Jesus meant Im going to establish a way for you to join my kingdom. if the only person who could save your soul from eternal turmoil was about to become a martyr you wouln't be too happy either. they didn't understand the last supper He told them a few times they didn't understand that He was leaving and why this way at different times.

You'd laugh at someone hanging from a cross, bleeding and in pain? That's funny to you?

What an awful, horrible heart you must have, how empty it must be. I feel sad for you.

It would be a very emotional event to witness. I honestly don't know what I would say or do but how dare you to say you would laugh. I'll say a prayer for you.

Back then, they would have probably mauled you.You wouldn't have lived very long after laughing.Aren't you glad you live in a world that tolerates statements such as that?
