Emotional. A broken spirit is worse than any broken bone.

Abuse is abuse.

Would you rather be beaten to a bloody pulp and in real physical pain so everyone can see what you're going through or would you rather be suffering on the inside always feeling guilty and questioning everything about your life?

However, I think that if you are abused physically then there will also be emotional ramifications.

So physical abuse is worse in the sense that that person is dealing with both types of abuse.

Sorry but it's a daft question, it's not a question about which is worse, the real question is the degree of abuse and the effect it has on an individual. Everyone is different and there are massively different levels of abuse. Abuse, whatever form it takes, is always damaging and quite often it is had to distinguish where physical abuse ends and emotional abuse begins, and vice versa. I am sure you asked the question for genuine reasons so I hope you don't think I am being rude.

mm... emotional. Cause when you have physical abuse it gets really really really bad when emotions are involved. So emotional. I think emotional is like... behind the pain unless it's just physical without reason... which is dumb but still painful and horrible.

i can agree with emotional...but the two tie together so dont think there is one with out the other...if it is physical its mental too...no abuse is best either way its not healthy...been there done that...its easier to take emotional abuse in my case cause if you hit me once i wont take too much of that but emotionally ill try to fix before i give up....if you are abused run now its not worth it

They are equally devestating!!! Emotional abuse is bad and physical abuse also affects you emtionally. Not Good either way you look at it and the effects of both last forever.

Well, with physical abuse you can kill someone faster. Though, it seems that emotional abuse never heals.

They're both horrible.

And a lot of times, emotional can lead to physical.

The saying goes "sticks and stones may break my bones but words can never hurt me". If words do hurt, it's usually either because they present a truth that we didn't want to face, or because we attach a degree of importance to them that they don't merit. Face the truth, or downgrade the importance, as appropriate. One shrug and you're free!
