That depends where you're going and how rough you want to travel. Obviously, you need a lot less per day to stay at a hostel or a campground than at a nice hotel. Likewise, check the exchange rates to see if you'll be losing or making money where you go (if you'll be traveling out of the country). I would suggest going to hostel.com, they have youth hostel rates from countries all around the globe, and information on where to eat and what to do in each country, so you can plan what you want to do and budget accordingly. Whatever amount you think you'll need, add a few hundred dollars to it at least and keep that aside, in case of emergency. You don't want to be stuck after three months with no way to get home!

It can be done as cheaply as £1000 per month if you're staying in youth hostels and campsites, you buy your own food rather than eating out and not drinking all night every night. It also does mean that you have think about transport and figure out the cheapest was way to get round. The last trip I did was for a month and cost £3000. This was visiting 4 countries in 3 continents, taking 10 flights, staying in hotels, eating out every night, and taking a couple of overnight tours where I could not get to on my own.

Not much if you live simply. Also it depends where you go .If you want to do it cheaply then start off picking grapes or something like that then travel till you go short and get another temporary job.The more you take with you the more you will spend.
Have a great time and remember to keep a diary.
