If it has been taken from the grocer's freezer case in the usual styrofoam tray with the plastic wrap over it, it will almost certainly have developed a healthy layer of white frost that brings with it drying, odd flavors and a toughness called "freezer burn".

There is no fix for this.

If, however, you have vacuum sealed frozen chicken (no air in the package), it will keep for years.

freeze at 0 °F. If kept frozen continuously, it will be safe indefinitely.

Chicken may be frozen in its original packaging or repackaged. If freezing longer than two months, overwrap the porous store plastic packages packages with airtight heavy-duty foil, plastic wrap or freezer paper, or place the package inside a freezer bag. Use these materials or airtight freezer containers to repackage family packs into smaller amounts or freeze the chicken from opened packages.

It doesn't really go bad, you won't get salmonella from it. It will only get freezer burned. It won't make you sick when it's cooked it will just be dry and might tast a little funny.
