The term Freemason may also include the Order to which I belong, American Co-Masonry (Freemasonry for women and men).

We are hardly a cult as one would define one. We elect our leaders; we do not isolate members from nonmembers; we do not insist on huge monetary donations.

We do not control the world. Our members (and that includes those of higher ranking degrees) include folks who make their living as poodle groomers and lawyers, book sellers and teachers, students and massage therapists. If we control the world, I think I want a raise.

Harmless? I would rather think we are helpful. We aim to make good people of all races and religions better.

If I can be of any more help, feel free to write me directly or click on the link below to read more about American Co-Masonry.

No they are not a cult. They only are Anti-Atheists. That's about all the religion there is. You have to be a Christian, Muslim or Jewish to be a member. What they are is a organization who seems to think, they can achieve worldly power through Knowing things they keep a secret to them self's and by having members who are Politicians, Cops and Military. They all seem to want or have Govt jobs. Their more like a Govt structured gang than a cult. Somewhat of a gang with police badges. So the leader of a sect might be a Postmaster and all his little Postal Workers. Then the Postal Cop might be a member too. Then they have some others at the DMV etc...

I'm sure in the past they held power (in fact, I know they did). But overall most of them are people just like you and I. Some Higher Level Freemasons are probably up to no good, but anymore, ANYONE can get to those levels, except the 33rd level which is an Honorary Title given to, usually, those who pulled in the most money that year. (My husband is a Freemason - 32nd Degree - Agnostic).

As for keeping secrets from their wives. Most wives I have ever talked to don't really care what they do at their meetings. And they aren't secret at all.... I knew what was going on in them before my husband ever joined the Freemasons. It was on A&E and I know it was fact, because so many were upset that one of their "secret handshakes" was displayed on TV, even though all the Masons I had talked to listed books that contained all these "secrets".

There are also no "blood oaths".... a blood oath is when you give up some of your blood while giving an oath. This is not done. In the "good ol' days" they killed people who gave away secrets. But it isn't a blood oath given. Whoever gave that info, obviously doesn't know what a blood oath is.

I look at this much like I view other groups, religious and non-religious. I mean, we wouldn't say Christianity is trying to control the world, but I know a lot of people who claim Bush is using his religion just for that reason. And it's obvious he is using it to get other Christians behind him on what he is doing.

controlling the world? probbably not

they have some pretty odd quirks... they have an oath where if they are on a jury and see a fellow Mason they are supposed to vote to get him off... except in cases of murder.... oddly there were decades when masons dominated the US Supreme court despite these kinds of odd oaths and promises which are kinda conflict of interest

occult yes.
religious yes.
the Morman religion is even structured on the Masons and has element borrowed from it.
inconsistent with Christianit... fraid so

there are many types of Masons... so they will vary but they share allot. Ankergurg had a good bbook on them, there is probably information on his website

Masons are a Fraternal order based on the tenants of the order which are Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth. we believe in the Fatherhood of GOD and the Brotherhood of Man. we go to Church or Synagogue to worship and go to our Lodge to become better men by studying moral truths by associating with like - minded men. we oppose a World Order as this would inhibit the free will of individuals. suggest you go to a local Masonic Lodge and talk with those in the know rather than coming here to listen to those who may not know what they speak of.

Scary cult complete with blood oathes. Read all about them in the book "Fast Facts on False Teachings" by Ron Carlson / Ed Decker. They are not harmless. Peace :-)

At one time they probably wielded some power...nowadays I think it's just a harmless fraternal organization.
