The hospital said I can't have copies of it. Is this legal?

Should I get a lawyer? or am I wrong

yes. it's one of your patient's rights to have a copy of your medical record. they may charge you a fee.

Technically, you are entitled to a copy of your medical records. However, if they facility deems that the information in the medical records may be harmful to you, ie. mental health information, they can withhold them from you.

To be certain I would check with your local State government to see what your rights are in regards to your medical records then take it from there.

well i dont know about where you live but in indiana you can get your medical records they cost money but you can get them are you over 18? then they should let you have them. but if your not 18 maybe your mom will get them for you. or you can ask your doctor and see if they can have some faxed to his office and you can pick them up there

Perhaps you can have a copy, but it depend on your disease and your age.You should have noticed here name of the hospital.
