Eat a high energy dinner like pasta. Then in the morning have a good breakfast No eggs or meat just cereal and one or 2 bannanas Drink lots of fluids, water, Gaterade. No pop or sugary drinks. Don't drink too much right before you run so you don't have to go to the bathroom right before.
Try and take a dump go pee before it starts it helps. And don't concentrate on your heart rate and breathing right away just relax breath normally and focuss on the path don't look ahead to the finish line or try to time yourself. You'll get discouraged if you realize you are still far from the line and get burnt

Do everything Judoka recommended but beforehand, also make sure you've had plenty of practice(running laps and such).

try sitting in a comfortable position
then close your eyes and focus on your breathing
your mind will try to elude you from this but this is natural, and means you have great potential.

If you have learned TKD then why do you need people from yahoo to tell you how to focus?
