Yes animal testing is wrong for both cosmetic and medical reasons.

I am not an animal activist, never have been and I eat meat (which some may say makes me a hypocrite) however to use a species that is less intelligent and unable to defend itself to test drugs and cosmetics is barbaric.

Most of these animals are in pain, they develop serious diseases, they are forced to suffer at our hands in the name of progression.

Human technology and knowledge has advanced so much we can isolate specific genes and cells which cause diseases. It has also been proved that difference species bodies and systems work in different ways yet we still insist on testing on species that have 4 legs and a tail.

I feel terrible for people that are ill, but how do we really know that a drug that works on a rat or chimp is going to work with us (it could throw up terrible sideffects a few years down the line) and what about all the treatments they have discredited cause it made an animal ill - could they have worked on us?

So ....................... :-) no drugs and treatments for people should only be tested on people.

Age: 19. Gender: Female. Education: Uni. Occupation: Student. Not working right now. #1. Do you think that animal testing protects us from harm? No. I don't. How can you possibly know how a human will react by testing medicine or anything on mice, rats or monkeys? You can't! Just because something may help a mouse, it could do nothing for us or worse. Nothing that will be sold to or provided to humans alone should be tested on animals because we are different creatures, effects WILL be different and the animal suffers. #2. Do you agree or disagree with animal testing. If so why? I disagree. What I said above. #3. Do you think that alternatives to animal testing should be found? Absolutely. Plenty of humans are willing to risk themselves to save an animal. I would have no problem testing make-up or beauty products on myself. If I were sick (cancer for example) I wouldn't have a problem being treated. Hey, it could save my life and many other people!

I think animal testing for health and disease is an unfortunate necessity. Without this research we wouldnt have found medication and cures for many diseases. I agree with you that submitting animals to tests for the cosmetic industry is wrong and should be banned. Look at the Body Shop for example, none of their products have been tested on animals.

We do need animal testing medical reasons only. I totally disagree with testing for non essential things like cosmetics and I love the idea of using pedos, rapists, child molesters etc for testing when so called humans are needed.

It's acceptable to test on animals that are bread for that purpose but not for cosmetics. Also the companies that do perform animal testing should sponsor an animal rescue centre or PDSA centre.

We should respect animals.

Hurting others for your own gain is always wrong.

We humans are animals with skills of complex language and communication. That's the primary difference between us and our fellow animals.

The only reason these discussions are still occurring is because we have invented so many lies to justify our brutality. (Oh thank God!)

p.s. All those people saying we wouldn't have medicine without testing on animals is like saying we wouldn't have cars without Ford, like there's no alternative. That's ridiculous.

Yes it is wrong for anything, I done a debate thing at school and I found some horrifing pictures.
They done something to a dog and just left it in pain.

Humans are animals aswell, I think we should test on humans if they are paid a lot

Yes and one day some future prime minister will have to apologise for all the useless killings.
The drugs that almost killed those men whilst testing a year or so ago was already tested on animals.

For cosmetics, botox etc yes i agree its wrong. but without animal testing many people on this earth would have died from a common cold or flu that nowadays thanks to animal testing is easily curable! I know its not good but just remember without animal testing u most likely wouldn't be able to protest about it now because u would be dead!

No, not at all. There is no way that someone should dictate to me whether or not me or my family should receive medical treatment, simply because it has been tested on lab raised animals.
The people who support groups like the ALF are misguided in their opinion and would certainly feel different if it was on of their own family
