I don't mean to pop my own buttons, but i am a very attractive black woman aged somwwhere between 18 and 21. and everytime i go out somewhere or walk around campus in college, only black guys try to talk to me. i/ve noticed that the white guys kinda look periodically then keep on walking by, but the black guys stare and try and talk to me. some white guys don't even pay much notice at all. the college is about 50 percent black and 50 percent white. The white guys would talk to every white girl at a college party but would'nt talk to me just the black guys would. and i know i look 10 times better than a every girl at that party.(sorry but its true.black women tend to posess better physial features anyway)Not that i care to much but i was wondering why most white men don't look at a black women. its like they could'nt even take us serious.

I live in a place where colour doesn't define people so I am not sure. Where i live it depends on the person's character whether a man defends a woman and probably the way he was brought up. Publically here, any abuse against women is not tolerated. But it happens behind closed doors. It is not viewed very well though. The colour or race of descent does not really influence how people treat people in my part of Earth. Most women i know are more than capable of standing their own anyway. I am sure that some black men defend their ladies if it is necessary. otherwise you are welcome in sunny Adelaide. Actually it is bl.....dy cold.

Wow. Just the opposite for me!
I am a white male (my Avatar has a tan...lol), and the girl I liked for the longest time in college was African-American. Unfortunately, she seemed to feel that she could only be "friends" with me. Maybe it was my skin, maybe it wasn't. I was a very sought after guy by a lot of girls (I was society pres, hockey team captain, honor student, and voted "Most Eligible Bachelor on Campus"), but I always felt disadvantaged when it came to the one girl I liked. She definitely had a preference for black guys, too.

So what I think is that a lot of people just are afraid to step outside their ethnic group. I personally have always felt that an "interracial" couple who can make it work are real heroes for society, breaking down the imaginary wall between their different "races". I think it all boils down to the fact that a lot of people are afraid to step out and be different. Don't let it bug you.

They are probably intimidated. Black woman come off as very strong woman, which is respected but at the same time can be scary for some men. I am a white woman but rarely get hit on by white guys, mostly black and Hispanic guys hit on me. White guys like the "easy way" and woman who look strong and secure with themselves scare them away, and other men are attracted to that.

Are you trying to date white only?

I don't know where you grew up, but in most places there is still a social stigma attached to interracial dating. Those guys may be interested in you, then again they may not. Either way, very few of them are willing to buck the system.
And of that number, fewer still are willing to take you home.

i will try, and i know this is right in most cases. Maybe because it's in nature that people like to be with other people that similar to them. for example, you couldn't find a cattle consist of cheap and mu. So, each one feel more comfortable when he/she with similar people.
