When a men see a women play golf they are intimidate by their presence. She got game! Last time Michelle Wie, now 16, was in GL [O/N '03], she was breaking records-and breaking rules by playing with the boys. She's swinging her way to the top (she booms her drives 300 yards) and establishing herself as a golf prodigy. In October, she announced...

There is a separate association for women to play in. Wie hasnt even been competetive in her men's events. Annika Sorenstam hasn't faired so well, herself.

Just because there are some ways around the rules doesn't mean women should play with the big boys. What it does is alienate the rest of the women on the LPGA tour. Look at some interviews with LPGA golfers on the subject. They are trying to gain publicity for their own tour, but arguably the two biggest draws are trying (and failing) to succeed against men.

Basically, men wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't just a publicity stunt. These ladies are taking the spot of a man who could really be competing for an exemption or his tour card.

You bring up Michelle Wie....how many wins does she have on the LPGA? ZERO! Don't you think she should start with the LPGA before she tried to conquer the PGA. If she thinks she is that good and compete against the men then why does she keep getting her butt kicked? She's not good enough! She should stay on the LPGA and focus on winning at that level. Once she becomes like Annika then we can talk. I also agree wiht someone else's comment about men playing on the LPGA. Men aren't allowed to play on the LPGA so why should women play on the PGA?

Plain and simple....it's all about the money she gets from sponsors.

Hello Jocelyn

Its just a guy thing with them, their feelings get hurt when a woman wants to play on the PGA tour.

PGA means Professional Golf Association

there are professional woman golfers.

LPGA means Ladies Professional Golf Association

None of the men are professional ladies and cannot play on the LPGA

As far as Wie or Annika playing on the mens tour I think its great but for sure they have no chance of winning. After all many years ago Babe Saharis played on the mens tour.

Its good for the game.

can men go play on the LPGA tour? No, so why can a woman come play on the PGA Tour? Michelle Wie is going to be a great player in time, but she hasn't even won an event on the LPGA yet to prove she can win at the professional level. Now if it was Annika trying to play on the PGA, I could support that. Michelle is just doing it for marketing reasons.

i imagine women individuals are allowed to play in the journey that they qualify for a given journey. yet in the previous the PGA has made blunders through giving Michelle Wie and different women individuals particular invites purely because she is 16 or they could hit the ball a mile does no longer advise they might want to be invited to play with adult males by way of the indisputable fact that is eliminating a niche of a harworking indivual attempting to make a residing.

If she can qualify according to the rules, their opinion should not make a difference.

I would guess that if you made your living golfing you'd want to maximize your chances for winning.

Maybe they just want to minimize any competition.

I could see other golfers not wanting to lose a chance to a teenage girl.

BTW, about the LPGA/PGA thing. Maybe women can play in the PGA because it is the PGA--not the GPGA (Gentlemen's Pro Golf Assoc.)!
