Hodgkin's disease is a kind of cancer.
Hodgkin's disease is a type of lymphoma (a cancer that develops in the lymphatic system). Hodgkin's disease affects white blood cells, which help the body fight disease.

Symptoms ,
Symptoms of Hodgkin's disease may include the following:

A painless swelling in the lymph nodes in the neck, underarm, or groin
Unexplained recurrent fevers
Night sweats
Unexplained weight loss
Itchy skin

Treatment for Hodgkin's disease depends on the stage of the disease, the size of the enlarged lymph nodes, which symptoms are present, the age and general health of the patient, and other factors.

Hodgkin's disease is often treated by a team of specialists that may include a medical oncologist, oncology nurse, and/or radiation oncologist. Hodgkin's disease is usually treated with radiation therapy or chemotherapy. The doctors may decide to use one treatment method or a combination of methods.

Patients treated for Hodgkin's disease have an increased chance of developing leukemia; non-Hodgkin's lymphoma; and cancers of the colon, lung, bone, thyroid, and breast.

Side effects of treatment
When the chest and neck are treated, patients may have a dry, sore throat and some trouble swallowing.
Radiation therapy to the abdomen may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or urinary discomfort.

When blood cells are affected, the patient is more likely to get infections, may bruise or bleed easily, and may feel unusually weak and tired.
chemotherapy may lead to hair loss
nausea and vomiting, and/or mouth and lip sores.

Hodgkin's is a cancer of the lymph system that mostly affects people in their 20's and 40+. Usually swollen lymphy glands, depressed immune system, tired, achey, in some people there is ichyness in the extremities and night sweats. Usually, there is a physical check first, such as feeling (palpating) the nodes by a doctor, then biopsies, where they put in a needle and draw a few cells to look at. From there, a CAT scan, which is simple scanning of soft tissue. If HD is diagnosed, chemo and or radiation will be prescribed.
If you think you may have HD, see someone now! It is so much easier to deal with the earlier it is caught. Prognosis depends upon stage- catch it early!
If you go through chemo, stay away from refined sugar and alcohol. They will depress your immunities faster than you could even imagine. Eat plenty of bright red and orange foods (carrots, beets, berries). Drink plenty of fresh juice, NO PROTEIN POWDER- it is hard on your liver, and drink plenty of water and eat tons of yogurt (really, I cannot stress these last two enough).
I was diagnosed with HD at 24, went through 9 monthes of chemo. I found accupuncture really helped me alot, but find the thing that helps you- gardening, creating music, whatever makes you feel involved in life and healthy.
Your oncologist will know how to cure your cancer, but get some health advice from someone who knows about supporting your immunity and whole person.
Your chances are very good, much better than they were even 20 years ago. I have been cancer free for 10 years now, and it has given me a whole new lease on life.
Take care of yourself, surround yourself with people who care about you. You can get through this and lead a happy and healthy life.

PS- A really good sense of humor helps
PPS- If you can find the Italian film Dear Diary, check it out. You will see what I mean by part 3.

One last- check out fungiperfecti.com, and the book Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms
