Immortality is a reward for faithfulness.
eternal soul idea is a variation of Satan's lie that if you disobey God you will not die, Genesis ch. 3.
The parable of the rich man and Lazarus is a story not fact.
It is directed to the scribes and Pharisees (they loved riches), showing that they (the rich man) were about to lose their favored position, and that the "common people" Lazarus were going to receive God's favor.
When you read the Gospels you see that the Scribes and Pharisees were tormented every time Jesus spoke.
The fact that the soul dies (Ez 18:4) shows that the parable can't be literal.
Kurt was correct when he said that Lazarus was sleeping, as you pointed out, he was referring to a different account.

We have faith the soul can die and does die - Ezekiel 18:4 and 20. the guy him or herself IS a soul - Genesis 2:7. As for the assertion that Psalm ninety is skipped over? according to probability Proverbs 23:4 and 5 are additionally being skipped over. "do no longer toil to learn riches. stop out of your guy or woman awareness. have you ever led to your eyes to look at it, whilst it isn't any longer something? For with out fail it makes wings for itself like those of an eagle and flies away in the direction of the heavens." So our money additionally is going to heaven because of the fact the Bible says it "flies away in the direction of the heavens"? No. We use an idiom interior the ENGLISH language that applies to the two verses the two - It vanishes into skinny air. The rationale of the scriptures ought to be taken into consideration. The Bible is not extra asserting that a SOUL is going to heaven than money is going to heaven. there is not any eternal soul. To have such could negate the term, the definition, or maybe the desire for a resurrection. And all of us understand that there is one in all those factor as a resurrection, because of the fact Jesus stated that HE replaced into the resurrection and the existence. And as such, the two righteous and unrighteous will earnings one in all those resurrection. - Acts 24:15. on the time, Paul used the term WILL - destiny stressful - from his day.

According to their literatures w/c are bible based the word "soul" have these meanings depending on the context the word soul was used:
1. As the whole person. So a soul has blood, can be counted, and can die.
2. As life itself. Some of the passages cited are: (a) soul for soul, (b) Moses enemies are looking for his soul--that is to kill him
3. Animals. As let the earth bring forth creeping souls--creation narrative in Genesis.
There are 3 ultimate destinations of dead souls: (a) to be resurrected on a paradise earth, (b) to be resurrected in heaven and rule w/ Christ , and (c) to suffer eternal death--but not eternal torture
JWs do not believe in an immortal soul. This idea is pagan according to some reference materials such as World Book Encyclopedia, etc

They believe in eternal life, but not in the immortality of the soul. JWs believe in "soul sleep." When you're dead, you're dead, but Jehovah God is able to recall the dead to life. JWs believe He will do this one day. The righteous will be awarded with eternal life, while the rest of us get annihilated in a lake of fire. JWs do not believe in a soul in terms of an incorporeal essence that leaves the body at death and finds its way into another dimension called the after life or gets stuck wandering around as a ghost.

I am not a JW...but I have studied with them from time to time...& if I remember correctly, they do believe in an eternal life, but much like 7th day adventists, they believe in "soul-sleep". That when a person dies their soul goes back to God, & the person is not aware of anything until they are resurrected on "paradise earth". The JW's believe that only 144,000 ppl will be allowed access to Heaven.
