Now I assume you mean Cardinals being as this is a pet Q & A, as car dials are founds on dashboards of vehicles.
Cardinals build nests from grasses and other materials, they are not known to use bird houses, and if you mean what avairy type, it should be mainly open flight space with a covered area for shelter and sleeping

cardinals nest in trees and scrubs, not in bird houses. Here is picture of their nest:

They don't nest in birdhouses, cardinals are not cavity nesters so are not interresting in nesting in one.
