There is a good Pop up Ads software, called 'Pop-up Stopper Free Edition' that is a free version. I have been running it for about 2 years now with very good success.

If you're using Windows XP, install SP2
(service pack #2), if you don't have it already.
Then open Internet Explorer, click on "Tools", "Internet Options", "Privacy" and make sure the "Block pop-ups" box is checked.
You can click on settings to switch it to high,
which will block all pop-ups.

If you are using IE, click on tools>popup blocker and click on Turn on Popup blocker. If you want to run another one you can use googles. Download from http://www.download.com/3000-2379-10056938.html. google and yahoo search toolbars has pop up blocker.you can download them from those website and they are free.
New version of internet explorer and firefox has these toolbars for free.
