My mom told me that Lucifer was the only arch angel that God shared his wisdom with. And the result of it caused Lucifer to believe he was better and more wise than God, So God challenged him and sent him to the underworld.
That is why we were not allowed to eat the apple from the tree of knowlesdge, also why Lucifer tempted us with it.
Sometimes we think that we know more than God, and that is a result of the apple and the tree of knowledge.

Lucifier was not unsatisfied with heaven. He was unsatisfied with himself; his position
How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! [how] art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Isaiah 14:12-14
Notice Lucifer's 5 selfish statements. Once selfishness became established as a principle in his character, heaven and the presence of God were no longer enjoyable to him. God is love and heaven is inhabited by those who, like God, have an unselfish character of love. This is the primary reason why it is blissful.and it is not very appealing to the selfish mind.

Hi Cristy, we do not know what the structure of Heaven is, and it would seem that it is a vast place indeed and so God may not have personally revealed Himself to the Angels during their time of testing or probation if you like.
Lucifer was the main Angel and was in complete charge of the Hosts of Angels and after some time must have developed too great a sense of his own importance and this lead him to believe that he was God to the other lesser Angels and so he must be as God Himself, this was his egotistical pride and also his downfall.

The only one that can "truely" answer that question would be Lucifer himself...& more than likely he is NOT gonna tell you the truth....However, most likely it was because he wants to be God. He thinks he could do a better job..& wanted (and still does) to be worshipped! Pride & jealousy & a huge helping of willful dis-obediance are a big part of satan's personality.

15Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
16They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;

you should get that old movie called BLADE and watch it, it gives one possiblity. There is another one about clones who come back to get their designer to change something about themselves which gives another possiblity, and if I think of the name of it I will add it later. It had that big guy with the really white hair in it.

Ego. It's the old "Ain't nobody going to tell me what to do." attitude. I see it every day in alcoholics, addicts and inmates. That is why they are were they are. Unwilling to submit to God's will.
