im moving from california to florida and i have a 14 yr old cat and a 1 yr old cat what is the best way to move them without stressing them out to much.they are both healthy.

What I did is that I bought a huge cage for them to be in, I have a SUV so it fit perfectly, they were fine, they could play and eat everything, also I let them around my car and when I was going to get out for gas or something I put them back in the cage, but it was a 10 hr ride so if its more it might not work out. You might need to sedate them, you can take them to the Vet the day you are moving and they will sedate them, they will be sleeping all the way there. If you are flying you can put them in a carrier and take them with you.

I would put them into their own cat carriers. If you are driving I would stop every so often and let them walk around a little and take a break. Be sure to put a leash and collar on them though. THey should be fine. If they get car sick then you can give them a dramamine pill. I had to do that with my dog when we moved to and from Tennessee to Texas. That was fun! Good Luck!

Assuming you're traveling in a vehicle, they need to ride in separate cat carriers. Soft sided will probably be more comfortable for them. Cats become anxious when relocating, so when you stop someplace, also when you get to your final destination, make sure they're in the carriers so they can't escape. They need to be fed and given water, but less of both while on the road. Motion sickness might occur unless they're used to riding in a vehicle.

Boy that's a long trip!
You may want to put something that smells like you in the crate with them, along with their favorite toys. Make sure they have time to eat and drink, and pottie. And when you get to your new home, expect them to hide for a few days. They'll come out and explore when they're ready.

How are you moving? If you are driving, then take them with you. If flying, then they fly. Nothing stresses animals more than being separated from their humans. Now go make arrangements.
