The way I shop for groceries is that first of all I make a list. Its always cheaper to shop off a list, because you already know what you need and you dont have to guess at an item you may already have at home. Second, I dont purchase too many name brands. I'm not gonna go completely cheap on all my food, but there are some things that you can get cheaper by just buying the generic brand, you still get the same product. There are other things that I will not skimp on, like american sandwich cheese, anything other than Kraft tastes disgusting to me. But when it comes to sodas, juices, cereals, soups, ketchup, dressings, frozen products, just opt for the generic brands. Sometimes when you're buying a brand name product, the extra cash you're spending on it is just for the name, not the quality of the product. And my last tip is: Never go grocery shopping on an empty stomach. You tend to be more tempted to get things you dont need because you're hungry. That makes a huge difference in your shopping.

I've never used coupons but what works for me is:
Look at the newspaper flyers for that week and decide where you need to go to buy certain items. I have about 4 grocery stores within a 3 mile radius. I used to get lazy and only go to one without bothering to check what the others have on sale. But you can save a lot of money that way. Sometimes one store has great prices on fruits and veggies and the other stores don't. If you don't have to drive too far between stores then shop at more than one place.

I cannot understand how you use coupons and do not save. you are doing something wrong.
Every sunday - clip your coupons. categorize them.
then make your weekly list of what you need. unless it is an essential for that week do not buy it without a coupon.
In addition - buy grocer items that have in store specials such as "buy one get one free" promos. do not shop at a grocery store that has the non sense of showing you a normal price and the shopper club price. you end up paying more because you cant keep track of whr is on sale or not. easier to shop at a grocer store that does not have a so called savings price club.

coupons only work if the items do not cost much more then the same items made by a different company.
It's best to buy store items, as long as they are cheaper & if they are food they taste as good as the other
companies food ( cereal, instant potatoes, canned goods are usually ok)
you may also want to try double coupon day, if they do not already do that everyday.
good luck

I use coupons as much as possible. Don't be afraid to buy the non-brand name stuff, it can be just as good. If the store you shop at has one of those discount cards you put on your keychain, be sure to get one and use it every time you shop.

a lot of it is where you shop and how you shop
do not impulse buy. Do not buy just because it is on sale or you have a coupon
try shopping at a discount store like aldi's or save a lot CHEAP
also cut out snacks and extras that go to waste
i only spend 50-75 a month or so
