It is nice to be proposed to at a famous landmark ... a museum/gallery, cathedral, park, monument, etc. That way, it should be there for a very long time, and every time you go to it, or pass by it, it will remind you of that special event in your life!
My hubby proposed to me at our city's Union Station (train depot) in 1969, and although it is no longer a bustling train station, it now serves as a children's museum, city theatre and restaurant area, etc. ... so we still have the thrill of going there and saying, "This is where we got engaged!"

Just inside the hall that goes from Yonge Street to Bay Street, (the most special 2 streets of Toronto because Yonge Street is the main street of the city, and the "longest" street, and Bay Street is special because it is the street of wealth and prosperity), ---inside that hall on the north side of the Hockey Hall of Fame (a most popular and special place in Canadian culture, and its a building that was one of the first and longest lasting buildings in Toronto with beautiful handcrafted stone carvings as it used to be a Bank of Montreal),
That hall is very very clean and modern (but classy-modern, not crazy-modern) and has new and old in it too.
There is a lot of specialness there near the northwest corner of Yonge Street and Front Street, but even before knowing all that, if you walk in there, oh ! the ceiling is so high and spectacular arches like a church cathedral, only modern, and the lighting is so incredibly beautiful, especially in November & December in time for Christmas, and its warm, and there is a cafe, and a restaurant there that is sooooo popular ! the line-up is so long, and people don't mind it because they like it so much. Oh those lights and the ceiling so high ! Its heavenly ! and the ground has lighted glass blocks and marble, its heavenly. There is so much positive specialness there and its such a pretty place. In the recent past, that place was used for international models and photographers too. Its warm and beautiful there.
Oh, avoid Casa Loma, it has a sad history, and hmmm just an old big house that didn't work out, and constantly costs money being repaired and rennovated and never gets completed. At best, its a museum of some failed dreamer's house that is open to public strangers. The original owner's wife was sick and his business idea basically failed, and the government took it over and used it to house soldiers, then it became a hotel that failed, then almost got demolished. And now you have to pay and buy a ticket to get in. It doesn't give a warm feeling for proposing there.

Someplace romantic, especially if it has a special memory. I've heard that the top proposal restaurant in the city is 360 which is at the top of the CN Tower. Alternatively, a park or the along the beach in the Beach District of Toronto. If you're not quite sure where that is, take Lakeshore Dr. East until you get to Coxwell Avenue. The Beach District officially runs from Coxwell Avenue as far east as Victoria Park Avenue. You can park in the parking lot on the south side of Lakeshore right at Coxwell and walk from there. Incidentally, also a great place for fun wedding pictures.
