First we must realize we are born spiritually dead. Ephesians 2:1. It’s not triggered by good works, but by faith and accepting Gods gift of salvation. (Corinthians 6:2; Ephesians 2:8). Believe that God send his Son down to die for our sins. Believe in the Father and his word.

Wow a Christian using scripture in their thoughts on dogma- novel idea that I hope continues. I totally agree- Ephesians 2 8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast. Kinda hard to argue with that scripture too huh? But we must see-as James points out- that good works are a result of our faith. Not that we need to do them to get into Heaven-but if we follow Christ- and He was a servant to all- then we will do the same. Great point!

Good works are my evidence to you that the Holy Spirit has worked in my life making me a child of God by faith. As I read Ephesians 2:8-10 it tell the whole story.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

No different than James chapter 2. God has prepared good works for the believer to preform.. We don't do them to get salvation, but we do them because we have received salvation.... Jim

All I know is what is written in the book of Galatians:

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— which is really no gospel at all.

Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!

As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!

I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.

I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness comes through the Law, THEN CHRIST DIED NEEDLESSLY."

Faith without works is dead.

You misinterpret the Bible or the Christians who believe good works are important. Good works are not the effort to earn heaven as much as they are the by-product of faith and acceptance of salvation. To be "born again" means you now have a responsible to demonstrate that belief in your daily life.

If I could I would like to share 2 scriptures with you

Luke 12: 47"That servant who knows his master's will and does not get ready or does not do what his master wants will be beaten with many blows. 48But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.

and

Rev 7:9 After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands

As you see in the Rev verse... there is soooo many more in Heaven than we can imagine (which no man can number) I dont think God is as stringent in picking and choosing as we like to make Him out to be. And according to the Luke passage, we're probably better off not thinking we need to know everything.

In fact, 100% of Christians are misled, as well as 100% of believers in any other religion. The fact that it is a popular fallacy does not keep it from being a fallacy.

salvation is dependant on the mercy of God and is a gift to those who believe in and follow the Gospel life which also entails doing good to others.

Following your argument I could lead the craziest worst kind of life-screwing around, drinking, lying, cheating, killing, dealing, name anything- and just 'cuz I 'believe' I'll go to heaven?????
That's it?
Isn't that like saying, 'I'll call myself a donkey and I'll be a donkey?'

I believe that we need good acts to follow the sincere faith.

Someone told me "pray as if it is all up to God and work as if it is all up to you". Couldn't get her out of my head after that--that kind of wisdom is rare.
