You can use hot compresses to help bring it to a head and drain it, but truthfully the safest thing to do is visit your doctor and have him lance and drain it. You risk infection if you drain it yourself. Depending on the size, he will place "packing" in the boil after draining it, and you may have to go several times to have that changed.

Go to the doctor, don't use duct tape, that works on warts, for a boil it willl lock in the bacteria and infected material and you could end up with a sepsis. If you want to chance it you can lance it yourself and let it drain, but wash it thoroughly by pouring hydrogen peroxide all over it. But I recommend letting the Doctor lance it. If he does it he wil do it in a way and then treat it and close it so it doesn't come back. The Doc can also do it gradually if you are afraid of the pain of lancing, but while there is pain, it is brief and the boil is gone instantly.

Rumor has it if you apply a piece of masking tape over it for a day or two, the insides are drawn out by the adhesive. Other than that, try hot compresses every now and again. These become infected very easily so make sure you keep it clean as well. Hope this helps!
