Does anyone have tips how to keep our streets clean of litter, I think if we put a spike on the end of a blind persons stick it would be a start.

it starts with educating the kids at schools and getting them out cleaning a street of litter so they can see how unpleasant it is. Then you have to put a lot more litter bins around for people, as they don't like to keep their rubbish in their hand for too long. Also, if everyone just kept the pavement in front of their house tidy, the effect would be incredible .. but of course nobody bothers because it is someone else's responsibility.

Not sure there are enough blind people in the world for that to make too much difference where I live in London...actually found a lawyer from a local office emptying crap out of his car and got very surprised when I told him to stop and put it in the bin - in fact told me it wasn't against the law (!!) and that that is why they had people to clean the streets - amazing...
My vote is for a clamp down by police, local wardens and fine everyone for every stinking *** butt, bit of plastic and takeaway food crap that litters the place - and peopl get surprised when the rats come out to play - the joy of lack of joined up council thinking

Use the criminals to litter pick. Will discourage alot of the youth yob culture from petty crime, especially if they have to wear pink boiler suits with yellow rubber gloves and blue wellington boots.
Prison's cost the tax payer thousands, lets get the scum paying their keep!

Keep hold of your rubbish until you come across a bin,then place it in the said receptacle,or you could always wait until you get home.
That's what my kids have to do.

for dogs and cats.

if the council actualy fined people instead of threatening too ,that may work
