Honestly, is it just not okay to just not care any more. People just need to worry about themselves.

Oh definitely yes! I hate when people (unsolicited) will try to figure out "what's wrong" if I'm not smiling and bubbly. sometimes there isn't even anything wrong, just that I am thinking of something and need to think it through or that I am trying to finish some project and people keep interrupting. And those things seem impossible for the cheer-up crew to understand! So yes, I can relate to that.

I don't think people should take it upon themselves to try and cheer everyone up in their path, or to butt in and ask what is the matter. It's OK to do so quietly and let the person know you are there if they need to talk ONCE, but then leave it alone and wait and see if the person actually wants to talk. If not, there is nothing the cheery one can do and they need to move on to another prospect!

I use to never care about anything. Now I'm one of those people that are constantly trying to cheer people up. I make myself sick!

Whats the world coming to?

Most people don't know anything about depression. If they did, they would realize that if you could "snap yourself out it", or "cheer up", you would... I'm sure those persons who are trying to cheer you up mean well, but I know they're not helping. Please consider getting some professional help if you are feeling depressed. There is help out there for you.

It depends on who they are.
Sometimes it is really annoying if they dont really know you.
but if it is a good friend and they do something funny to try and cheer you up then it usually makes me happy!

If people would worry about themselves you would probably not exist. Your parents or someone elese for sure worried about you when you were a kid don't you think?

their intent is good. that's what i try to look at.
they want you to feel better and be happy.
even if they don't have the skills to make it happen.
they are doing a nice gesture.
